FOR THE GIVERS – WITH GRATITUDE!

The collection of the “New and Most Recent History” department of the Regional History Museum has been enriched with an extremely valuable black-and-white photograph from 1930, which brings together the portraits and names of all non-commissioned officer candidates in the school of the Eighth Cavalry Regiment, stationed at that time in Razgrad.

The photo is a gift from Krasen Ganchev – popular in Razgrad, the country, and Europe as the man who sets the rhythm of the “Ludogorets” cheering very loudly with a huge drum during the matches of the fourteen-time football champion of the country.

“I have the photo from my grandfather Kanyu Stanchev from Pobit Kamak, a candidate non-commissioned officer in the regiment. Ganyu Stanev is also in the photo, also from Pobit Kamak. The rest are from other parts of Bulgaria.

The Candidate Non-Commissioned Officer School was located in the barracks opposite Kaufland, some of the buildings are still there.

The men in the photo did not participate in the war, they conducted exercises in the meadows around, and also on the Big Yuk. They are photo-documented and shown with frames at the four corners of the panel”, says Krasen Ganchev.

For him, the photo, although a family relic, is part of the history of Razgrad and its place is in the museum, to be available to all who are interested in the city’s past.

A curious detail of the donation is that on the back of the photo with the candidate non-commissioned officers, a large single-page calendar for 1936 is attached with a family photo of Tsar Boris III.

Krasen Ganchev is the deputy chairman of the “Ludogorets” fan club, which makes him more popular among men, but with his service for warranty and post-warranty maintenance of household appliances: from epilators to almost all electrical appliances – excluding large-sized machines such as stoves and refrigerators, he is also well known to the ladies in Razgrad and the Ludogorets area.

And another curious fact: since June 2021, the Regional History Museum has also owned a valuable relic, provided at the time by Angel Majstorski, directly related to the military history of Razgrad – a photograph of the personnel of the Second Squadron of the Eighth Cavalry Regiment, established at a garrison in Razgrad.
