The museum-educational program “From Egypt… to Scandinavia”, organized by the Regional History Museum in Razgrad, began as an idea for a different way of discussing history. Today, it has become one of the museum’s recognized educational initiatives.

After two editions and over 900 students who have “walked” the path “From Egypt… to Scandinavia”, the program returns for new encounters, games, and historical adventures!

In 2024, its inaugural edition brought together over 500 children, and the following year, it expanded its reach to include students from Loznitsa and Isperih. Early this year, the initiative took another important step forward—it became mobile.

Its creator, museum educator Hristo Hristov, presented the four civilizations featured in the initiative to high school students from the “Geo Milev” Language High School in the city of Dobrich.

And now, it returns to where it all began – it is time for a new edition in Razgrad. Four civilizations, several thousand years of history, countless stories to tell, and the most entertaining part of the program: a wide array of ancient board games. From the Egyptian pyramids, through the vast legacy of Ancient Greece and the centuries-old Roman Empire, to the distant, cold lands of the Scandinavian Vikings.

At the heart of the program will once again be engaging educational talks, as well as entertaining models of ancient and medieval board games that young museum visitors will have the opportunity to experience firsthand.

The initiative will take place at the Ethnographic Museum (part of the Razgrad Regional History Museum) from October 5 to 16; while primarily aimed at lower secondary school students (grades 5–7), the activities can be adapted for younger or older students. Participation requires advance booking by calling 0893 77 51 24 (Hristo Hristov, museum educator).
