Three mobile exhibitions of the Regional History Museum are already visiting different schools in Razgrad.
Today, the exhibition “Locked in Time” was opened at the PS “I. S. Turgenev”, which was part of the rich two-day program on the occasion of International Museum Day and the 40th anniversary of the “Abritus” Archaeological Reserve.

“Our idea is to tell them in a more unconventional way, right next to the children’s classrooms, and show them with photos and graphics truly “locked in time” to this day movable cultural values /locking mechanisms and keys/, discovered in ancient Abritus, and to once again provoke their interest in history”, said the museum’s director Tanya Todorova at the opening in front of the children from the junior high school course. As a sign of gratitude and wishes for even more successful cooperation, she presented the school’s director Milena Oreshkova with a hat, blouse and notebook with the museum’s logo and the collection of reports “The Book and Education – Historical Aspects and Traditions” from the National Scientific Conference, held in Razgrad in 2020.

“We are flattered by the fact that the journey of the mobile exhibition “Locked in Time” starts from our school”, said Milena Oreshkova. She recalled some of the joint initiatives, including the last, perhaps the most large-scale, when for a week at the end of May, over 200 children from primary school “I. S. Turgenev”, participants in the National Program “Bulgaria – Educational Routes”, literally took over the ancient Abritus, choosing to have their final destination there. Milena Oreshkova promised even more frequent visits by the children to the museum’s sites.

The exhibition was presented today by its author – archaeologist Silvia Anastasova and the museum designer Mihail Marinov, who designed and arranged the board was also there.

And to make it even more interesting, Silvia Anastasova invited the children to try to unlock a chest made especially for the exhibition, locked with a puzzle padlock. After a few minutes of diligence, the children’s nimble fingers unlocked the chest full of “yolks”. And everyone took a coin as a souvenir.

At the school “I. S. Turgenev” exhibition will stay until the New Year. After that, its journey will continue to the other primary schools in Razgrad.

Meanwhile, two other mobile exhibitions are visiting older students: at the PGTS “Hristo Smirnenski” there is an exhibition dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the birth of Grigor Nikolov Popov /Grisha/ – a theater actor, journalist and editor of the longest-running Razgrad newspaper “Razgradsko Slovo” until 1944, and at the PGPCHE “Exarch Joseph” – about the first builder of Razgrad, the first mayor of the city after the Liberation – Georgi Popov.
These two exhibitions will also visit the other high schools. After that, they will be with the children from the primary schools and in their place will appear the padlocks and locking mechanisms, along with several other mobile exhibitions currently being prepared at the museum.
