The summer tourist season at the Regional History Museum in Razgrad—which was highly active and packed with events this year—concluded on November 5th. The season wrapped up with a visit to the Interactive Museum by students from classes 2“V” and 2“G” of the “Nikola Ikonomov” Primary School, accompanied by their class teachers, Vesela Ruseva and Kristiana Georgieva, as well as Ailin Karaahmed, a teacher from the Extended Day Program.

The second-graders began their exploration of the exhibits in the halls of the Interactive Museum, where unforgettable experiences related to the historical past of Razgrad awaited them—along with some pleasant surprises.

They were welcomed and guided into the exhibition halls by a team of young museum professionals: head guide Viktoria Valcheva, guide Slavena Stefanova, and museum animators Stanislav Stefkov, Ibrahim Shaer, and Galin Donchev. The staff gave presentations on the city’s historical past, illustrated with modern visual aids such as educational maps, display boards, and photographs. A quiz—which the children found particularly engaging—allowed them to learn new facts about Roman life, including details about various crafts. Beyond the activities themselves, the children were also highly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere of the hall, which featured a screen and child-sized seating. The second-graders were especially taken with Roman hairstyles and intrigued by Roman tunics; they were also fascinated by the retail spaces found in Roman centers, about which they received a wealth of information.

The children were delighted by the photo booth featuring a clip about the Roman Emperor Decius Trajan, who met his end near Abritus during a battle against the Goths. During the visit, the children received a pleasant surprise: a gift from the museum—replica ancient Roman coins, struck from a die, bearing the inscription “Abritus Razgrad” on the reverse. They were also given photographs depicting Decius Trajan, along with the year of the battle against the Goths near Abritus—251 AD—the year in which he died. Both the children and their teachers were touched by this thoughtful gesture.

After their visit to the Interactive Museum, the children also visited and explored the permanent archaeological exhibition “Traces of Antiquity.”

Class teachers Vesela Ruseva and Kristiana Georgieva from the Nikola Ikonomov Primary School express their gratitude to tour guides Viktoriya Valcheva and Slavena Stefanova, as well as to activity leaders Stanislav Stefkov, Ibrahim Shaer, and Galin Donchev, for the warm welcome, the great care shown to the children, and the insightful talks. The teachers were delighted to learn about the history of Razgrad from a competent team of young professionals—who were both courteous and energetic.
In connection with the close of the summer tourist season, an exhibition of photographs from the past season—featuring displays and other events—has been set up at the Regional History Museum (RHM) in Razgrad.
