A rich two-day program is prepared by the specialists of the Regional History Museum in Razgrad, dedicated to the International Day of Museums and the 40th anniversary of the “Abritus” Archaeological Reserve.
The series of events will begin with the opening of the exhibition “Locked in Time” at 10:30 a.m. on May 16 /Thursday/ at the Interactive Museum. The exhibition is dedicated to the anniversary of AR “Abritus” and presents locking mechanisms, keys and parts of locks discovered during the years of research in the reserve. All of them are intended for doors and items of home furnishings – chests, coffins, boxes, cabinets, etc. The author of the exhibition is archaeologist Silvia Anastasova.
The program will continue immediately thereafter with the First Doctoral and Postdoctoral Readings on Cultural Heritage Issues.
At 2:30 p.m. the same day, the May local lore readings of the Center for Regional History at RHM – Razgrad will begin in the “Ananie Yavashov” house-museum.
On May 17 / Friday / on the territory of the “Abritus” Archaeological Reserve and the House Museums, an Information Day “The museum and its role in the search, study, preservation and presentation of the cultural and historical heritage of the Razgrad region” will be held
From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the space in front of the North Wall of the ancient Abritus, children from all Razgrad schools will take on the role of: archaeologist, restorer, tour guide and treasurer and with the help of museum specialists they will learn details about their professions, they will also be able to practice to try what they actually work.
After lunch, the creative workshops will move to the house museums. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the house-museum “Stanka and Nikola Ikonomovi” the children will play the role of curator – historian; from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Ethnographic Museum they will be in the role of ethnographer and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the house museum “Ananie Yavashov” – in the role of researcher.
In case of bad weather, the Regional History Museum reserves the right to change the performances included in the program.
