Hristo Hristov, museum pedagogue at the Regional History Museum – Razgrad, and the animator Ibrahim Shaer participated in the Archeology Festival at the “Sboryanovo” Archaeological Reserve on June 13. The organizers of the festival are the Historical Museum – Isperih, with the assistance of the “Helis” SNC and with the support of the Isperih Municipality. Apart from the Razgrad Historical Museum, representatives of the Historical Museum – Tutrakan and the Historical Museum – Popovo also participated. The celebration took place at the Thracian Royal Tomb, with themed areas where children and adults, while enjoying historical attractions and entertainment, learned a lot about the history of the region.

Regional Historical Museum – Razgrad presented itself in the thematic zone “Quarter of the Aristocrats”, with the stand presenting clothing from Ancient Rome, which children and adults had the opportunity to wear and thus immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the past. The military legionary props – shields, swords and helmets – also aroused interest.

A hit of the holiday was the advertising material for the ancient Roman sacrificial bread made of cheese /libum/ – according to the original recipe of Apicius. Still warm, libum was dipped in warmed honey. It is part of the occult Roman cuisine, it was prepared for the birthdays of the gods and spirits – protectors. From it comes the modern tradition of making birthday cakes. Made from cheese, flour and egg, libum is baked in an oven covered with bay leaves, covered with a clay bowl.

Great interest was also shown during the holiday in the advertising materials for the exhibitions in the museum in Razgrad, with some of the visitors to the stand reporting that they had already submitted requests for visits. Hristo Hristov and Ibrahim Shaer provided a wealth of information to the visitors of the stand throughout the day, who learned a lot about the Roman past in the region.
