Milena Georgieva Terzieva – daughter of the first and only female mayor of Razgrad, Marinka Angelova, made a gesture worthy of respect and imitation. She donated to the Regional History Museum her mother’s state honors – orders and medals, as well as badges, plaques and insignia – a total of 41 in number, awarded to her for her active public activity. Among them are: Order “Cyril and Methodius – 1st degree”, Order “Ninth of September – 1st degree”, People’s Order of Labor, Medal “1300 years of Bulgaria”, “Jubilee medal “Georgi Dimitrov”, “Insignia of Razgrad”.
Milena Terzieva personally received the certificate of donation from the director of RHM – Razgrad, Tanya Todorova, at her home in the capital.
The daughter of Marinka Angelova and Georgi Terziev has been living in Sofia since 1976, when she became a student after graduating from high school. She graduated in Bulgarian philology at Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski”. Until the changes in the state in 1989, she worked in a large scientific library, and then – in “Social Care” in the municipality of “Studentska”, and from 2006 until her retirement – as a literary assistant in the BNR.

During her meeting with Tanya Todorova, she recounted memories of her parents, her childhood and her strong relationship with Razgrad. Milena Terzieva defines herself as one of the luckiest children in the world, for being the daughter of Marinka and Georgi Terzievi, gifted with a lot of love, raised in a very calm atmosphere, brought up in modesty and without showing who they are and what mom and dad work, who at that time was the secretary of the Central Committee of the BKP.

“My mother was an extraordinary woman and person – a role model in my childhood and a best friend in my youth. Together with my father, they were extremely caring parents, very much in love with each other and at the same time dedicated in their work. People with firm principles and a value system”, says Milena Terzieva
She evaluates what her mother did for Razgrad as very significant – the landscaping of the city, the removal of the Roma from the brothels and the construction of new houses for them on “South Boulevard”, the complete renovation of the center.

Marinka Angelova was mayor of Razgrad for two terms: 1962-1969. It was during these years that Razgrad became, literally and figuratively, the green capital of Ludogoriets. The main street is being built and modernized /bul. “Lenin”, today “Bulgaria”/. Most of the residential buildings in the rest of the central part of the city have also been built. The outlying districts are mainly improved and sewered without exception. The area around “South Boulevard” is also being completely renovated. Kindergartens were built, dozens of streets were paved. During her rule, the Youth Home, the Bus Station, and the Colodrome were built. New roads were built to the settlements of the municipality…

Marinka Angelova’s motto is: “Razgrad – a real garden – with clean and green streets and neighborhoods!”, and urban folklore gives birth to the popular expression among Razgrad residents: “Garden city – with Mayor Marinka!”.

Born on August 1, 1923 in the village of Poroishte. She completed her secondary education at the Razgrad High School in 1942.
