The sacrifice in the April Uprising was the focus of a joint lesson organized by the “Robert Schuman” Vocational High School of Economics with the participation of Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD from the Regional History Museum – Razgrad.

The initiative brought together more than a hundred students and teachers around one of the most dramatic pages in Bulgarian history.

The session examined both key facts about the uprising and the moral choice of the Bulgarian revolutionaries to stand up to the Ottoman Empire despite the risk to their lives. Emphasis was placed on the personalities of Georgi Benkovski, Panayot Volov and Todor Kableshkov, whose actions are a symbol of self-sacrifice in the name of freedom.

Particular attention was paid to the events in Batak, which have become an emblem of the tragedy and unwavering spirit of the Bulgarian people. The topic provoked discussions about the price of freedom and the power of the human will.

The joint work between the school and the museum contributed to a deeper understanding of historical processes. The participation of the museum specialist brought an expert perspective and gave the students the opportunity to access authentic sources and scientific interpretations.

The initiative highlighted the importance of partnership between educational and cultural institutions as an effective model for modern learning that develops critical thinking, civic awareness and respect for historical memory.
