The second episode of the joint initiative “Tradition of Speed” of the Regional History Museum and the motorcycle club “Ludogorski Bratya” started with a new element. The new summer season was opened with a ritual of lighting the Fire of Abritus. The tour guides Polina Nedelcheva and Slavena Stefanova, dressed as Vestal Virgins, and Galin Donchev – as Emperor Trajan Decius, were joined by the mayor Dobrin Dobrev, the director of the museum Tanya Todorova and the chairman of the motorcycle club Desislava Petkova.
The museum director Tanya Todorova and the motorcycle club’s PR Yordan Atanasov took turns hosting the event, which was attended by over 200 bikers from almost all corners of the country, many Razgrad residents and guests of the city with their children.
Tanya Todorova recalled that the “Tradition of Speed” initiative unites for the second time in a common cause museum workers and men and women who are lovers of motorbikes and wind. It is part of the museum’s strategy to provide a platform for expression to various local communities with the idea of making history and various good practices available to a wide range of people. Tanya Todorova wished fair winds and an accident-free summer to the bikers and a successful tourist season to the museum workers.
Yordan Atanasov thanked for the hospitality and called on his colleagues to protect themselves and other road users on the road.
For health, a sunny and smiling summer, the hierarchal vicar Father Georgi performed the blessing of water. He wished the motorcyclists that the angels, in addition to being guardians, would also be their navigators on the road, so that they could reach their families and children’s homes without any problems. And to the museum specialists – a strong tourist season, in which they would welcome guests from near and far in as many European and world languages as possible.
This was followed by the traditional noisy and colorful motorcycle tour through the streets of Razgrad, with which the rockers symbolically announced the beginning of their summer season.
At the unique motorcycle exhibition in the parking lot of the Abritus Archaeological Reserve, anyone who wanted to could take a picture with their favorite or dream motorcycle, and even take a ride, riding the power and speed of hundreds of horsepower.
The hosts of the event invited guests and participants to sip wine prepared according to a special recipe from the 5th century, as well as to explore the museum sites for free – the permanent archaeological exhibition, the twelve halls of the Interactive Museum and the ancient Abritus. Those who wished were accompanied by tour guides who told them about the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Razgrad region, others could do this independently, led by an audio guide. The children played board games and joined the game “Discover the exhibit” after they had already explored the museum. And everyone – to dress up in Roman clothes and take pictures, armed like the warriors of that time.
The celebration ended with a wish for a new invitation to Razgrad residents and guests of the city for an event organized by the Regional History Museum and “Ludogorski Bratya” motorcycle club.
