Archaeologists Silvia Anastasova and Vladimir Bekov PhD, designer Mihail Marinov, head of the “Administrative and Economic” department Kalina Karbasheva, museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov and volunteer Nikoleta Petrova, led by the director of the Regional Historical Museum in Razgrad Tanya Todorova, participated in the XIX Festival of Ancient Heritage “Eagle on the Danube”, organized by the Regional Historical Museum in Pleven.
The three-day fiesta took place over the last few weekends on the territory of three municipalities: Pleven, Gulyantsi and Dolna Mitropolia – in the fortresses of Storgozia, Ulpia Escus in Gigen and Ad Putea in Riben.
With culinary delights from antiquity, Razgrad museum specialists participated in the “Roman Cuisine” workshop on the first evening and won the ovations of both the audience and the special guest of the festival, chef Stanislav Ivanov.
In the competition, the people of Razgrad presented themselves with bread made according to a recipe by the master chef Mark Apicius from the 1st century, mussels and dates with nuts, prepared on site and flavored with fragrant wine, prepared according to a special recipe from the 5th century.
The products at the RHM-Razgrad stand sold out the fastest, with the guests – with a glass of antique wine in hand – not sparing their praise for the delicacies from the only warm showcase at the festival.
This was followed by participation in a fashion show in Roman clothes through the streets of Pleven.
On the second festival day, at the Ulpia Escus fortress in Gigen, at a special stand, Razgrad residents talked about Abritus, about the lifestyle and culture of the inhabitants of the ancient city, and presented the opportunities for visiting the museum’s sites: the Interactive Museum, the permanent archaeological exhibition, and the house museums.
Visitors had the opportunity to play board games, shoot archery, and even buy RHM-Razgrad advertising materials.
