The Ethnographic Museum in Razgrad has once again become a creative workshop for martenitsi. The invitation to the children of Razgrad is from the Regional Historical Museum, this time in collaboration with “Prosveta” community center – Topchii village.

First to visit the museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov, tour guide Svetlana Jeim, Penka Dimitrova from the administrative and economic department and the secretary of the community center in Topchii Katya Lapatova were the children from the 3rd “a” grade at “Hristo Botev” Secondary School and first-graders from the “Iv. S. Turgenev” Primary School.

With their help, the girls and boys twisted white and red threads and made traditional Bulgarian martenitsa – the popular Pizho and Penda or bracelet for the hand. At the same time, they learned the legend from the time of Khan Kubrat and Khan Asparuh, which tells that the thread of the martenitsa connected us as Bulgarians and that it should never be broken and that the white color symbolizes longevity, and the red – health and strength.

The exhibition of martenitsa from the community center in Topchii is also arranged in a special corner in the Ethnographic Museum, which the little curious ones viewed with undisguised interest.

The expectations are that by the end of the week, over 300 children from first to fourth grade from all schools in Razgrad will participate in the martenitsa workshop.
