On April 1, the Regional History Museum – Razgrad took part in the regional forum “Development of Key Competencies in Education” at FLHS “Exarch Joseph”. The program of the forum includes working sessions, thematic groups, and debates on the topic of innovations in education. The participants were welcomed by the regional governor Ognyan Obreshkov and the deputy mayor Elka Nedelcheva. The organizers are the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Ministry of Education, with the support of the Razgrad Municipality, the Center for Educational and Cultural Development, the Razgrad International Institute of Management, the “Architects of the Future” association, university professors, representatives of innovative schools, etc. The forum aims to prepare young people for the challenges of the 21st century.

The Regional History Museum participated in the second session of the thematic working group “Design and Creativity in Education through the Prism of Higher Education Schools and Universities”. The event featured presentations by the Director of the Regional History Museum – Razgrad Tanya Todorova and the museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov, who presented the rich cultural and historical heritage of Ludogorie and the diverse educational initiatives of the institution. The topic of the presentation of the two lecturers, which they spoke about, was “The Museum – a Key Component in the Field of Education”.

Tanya Todorova focused on the theoretical part. Hristo Hristov focused on the Summer Educational Program “Adventures in Abritus” and its thematic days, which offer its participants experiential learning through role-playing games, working with historical sources and a variety of practical activities.

Another very good example of a successful educational innovation of the museum is the program “From Egypt… to Scandinavia”, which successfully covers the school content of the 5th grade history textbook. Proof of its success is its reach in schools in other cities and regions.

Attention was paid to the traditional ritual workshops at the Ethnographic Museum, as well as to innovative practices such as the “Living Museum of the Kapan People”, organized two years ago in the gymnasium of “N. Y. Vaptsarov” Primary School.

In conclusion, museum educator Hristov stated that the museum is not an alternative to school, but its natural continuation and a major component in the field of education. An institution that is not just a space for the past, but an active educational environment that can form knowledge, skills and competencies in young people. The two presentations aroused interest among those present with the attractive ways in which the museum combines past and future.
