The second edition of the educational program “From Egypt… to Scandinavia”, organized by the Regional History Museum for the children of Razgrad and Ludogorie, has completed.
This year it lasted for three whole weeks, renewed and enriched. Over 300 children passed through the exhibition hall of the Ethnographic Museum, who were transported into the past with direct contact with four great civilizations – Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and the Scandinavian world of the Vikings. Students from all primary schools in Razgrad, Secondary School “Hristo Botev” – Loznitsa and from Primary School “Hristo Botev” – Isperih traveled into the past.
The news is that the program will be available to many more young researchers because it is becoming mobile and will be visiting schools in all seven municipalities of Razgrad region, and probably museums across the country.
The conversations of the little curious ones in front of the boards richly illustrated by the designer Mihail Marinov were led by the author of the now sustainable initiative – the museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov. In the unforgettable journey through time and space, the children were guided by the animator Ibrahim Shaer and Penka Dimitrova from the “Administrative and Economic” department at the museum.
“We are satisfied with what we have done over the past three weeks. The children have learned things that are not described in textbooks. They know why the Great Pyramid of Cheops is called that, that the Viking warriors defeated the Bulgarian Tsar Petar Delyan, that the Hellenes are the founders of democracy. They also learned how the Romans managed to rule their extremely strong empire for so long. And a number of other very curious facts”, summarizes Hristo Hristov at the end of the program.
Museum specialists thank everyone who joined the adventure of traveling into the past. Because knowing history helps – already prepared, for a fruitful journey into the future.
