The museum-educational program “From Egypt… to Scandinavia” started today at the Ethnographic Museum.

Museum teacher Hristo Hristov and designer Mihail Marinov present the children of Razgrad with four of the most interesting civilizations and cultures in the world: Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Scandinavian. With a short walk from ancient times to the present day, full of interesting facts about people and events, the girls and boys, like a time machine, experience what happened on our planet far, far back in time.

They then explore and try different antique board games that their peers played in the past. They take pictures with Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Vikings.

The Director of the Regional History Museum Tanya Todorova welcomed the first group of children participating in the program with “Welcome!” She wished them health, success in school and unforgettable moments with the ancient people and civilizations with which they will get to know up close.

Sixth and seventh graders from “N. Y. Vaptsarov” already know things that are missing in history textbooks: for example, that the modern technology “Bluetooth” for connecting and transferring information between mobile phones, laptops, cameras, etc. is named after the late 10th century Viking king Harald I Bluetooth, known for his ability to get people to communicate with each other and unite them. And according to the legend, the Danish king Bluetooth got his nickname because of a tooth /probably dead/ and therefore looking bluish.

And these are just some of the curious questions, games and surprises that await the children who will join the program until November 15.
