The mobile exhibition of the Regional History Museum “Locked in Time” was opened today at the “N. Ikonomov” Primary School.
“Your school is the second in Razgrad where we are showing this exhibition, part of the rich two-day program on the occasion of International Museum Day and the 40th anniversary of the Abritus Archaeological Reserve last year. We came to you to show and tell you in a different way – with photos and graphics, truly “locked in time” to this day movable cultural values /locking mechanisms and keys/, discovered in ancient Abritus. We hope to provoke your interest in history once again and for you to visit us next time”, said the director of the museum Tanya Todorova at the opening to the fifth-graders.

As a sign of gratitude for the hospitality and a wish for even more successful cooperation, she presented the school director Dimitar Petrov with the museum’s multi-page calendar for 2025 and the collection of reports “Books and Education – Historical Aspects and Traditions” from the National Scientific Conference held in Razgrad in 2020.

For his part, Dimitar Petrov congratulated the museum specialists for the interesting way to reach out directly to the children, convinced that this will leave a lasting memory in their minds and that the curiosity shown now will develop into a lasting interest in some of them.

The exhibition was presented by its author, archaeologist Silvia Anastasova. Among the children was the museum designer Mihail Marinov, who designed and arranged the boards.

From Silvia Anastasova, the children learned how over the centuries people have locked the gates of fortresses, the doors of their homes and the chests in which they stored documents, seals, valuables, and jewels.

Intrigued by what they heard and saw, with enviable zeal from almost everyone, the children managed to unlock a chest made especially for the exhibition, locked with a puzzle padlock, and took a coin from the hidden gold treasure inside as a souvenir. The school principal, Dimitar Petrov, also took a coin. On his desk in his office, his good luck is prominently displayed – a coin with the image of Decius Trajan.

At the “N. Ikonomov” school, the exhibition “Locked in Time” will remain until the Spring /Easter / vacation. It has already been with the children at the “Iv. S. Turgenev” school. It will also travel to the other primary schools in Razgrad.
Two more mobile exhibitions are to be opened in a few days. In the NPTG “Shandor Petyofi” there is an exhibition dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the birth of Grigor Nikolov Popov /Grisha/ – a theater actor, journalist and editor of the longest-running Razgrad newspaper “Razgradsko Slovo” until 1944, which was already in the PGTS “Hristo Smirnenski”. And in the Courthouse in Razgrad there is the exhibition “Razgrad legislators /1879-1991/. 145 years of parliamentary life in Bulgaria.” Outside the museum it was presented in the lobby of the Regional Administration – Razgrad.
