In Razgrad, in the lobby of the Municipal Cultural Center, the award ceremony for the winners of the 14th national student journalism competition named after Grigor Popov, on the topic “The World Under the Magnifying Glass”, took place.
Many students, teachers, media were present. The competition named after Grigor Popov is organized by the Municipality of Razgrad and the Center for Student Technical and Scientific Creativity – Razgrad with the assistance of the Regional Educational and Cultural Organization. The Regional Historical Museum – Razgrad also provides assistance in organizing it, since the activities of Grigor Popov are part of the history and development of Razgrad through the newspaper “Razgradsko Slovo” published by him during the period 1922-1944.

The director of the museum, Tanya Todorova, participated in the ceremony and presented the special award to the Regional History Museum – Razgrad. It was deservedly received by the e-newspaper “Profiles”, with editors Radostina Ivanova and Darena Marinova, Secondary School for Humanities and Arts “Konstantin Preslavski” – Varna. Tanya Todorova wished the winners of the special prize of the museum success in journalism.

The assistance in organizing the prestigious competition is an opportunity for the museum to promote the cultural heritage of Razgrad among young people from all over the country, as the participants are from different cities in Bulgaria.

For participation in the 14th edition of the competition, 354 journalistic materials were submitted by 53 teams and 227 individual participants, divided into three age groups: II-IV, V-VIII and IX-XII grades. The participants are from 58 educational institutions from the country and the region in 20 regional centers in the country. The most numerous are journalistic materials in the genres: essay, article, report, comment, sketch, travelogue and interview. In addition to them, the “Journalism” section also includes student newspapers – electronic and paper. The “Radio Journalism” section includes individual materials in the genres of interview and report and collective radio broadcasts. For the first time, there was also a “Video Works” section, from which one of the Grand Prizes was awarded.
The committee for evaluating the materials in the competition was composed of: Valentina Koleva – radio journalist, Sadet Karova – BTA correspondent, Petromir Penchev – marketing specialist, Galina Mateva – journalist, Dimitar Petrov – publicist and local historian, Galina Marinova – journalist and psychologist.
At the award ceremony, which took place at the Municipal Cultural Center in Razgrad, the participants were welcomed by Mayor Dobrin Dobrev, by the director of the Center for Cultural and Artistic Development of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsvetanka Ruseva, and the journalist and local historian Bozhidarka Zlatareva introduced the young people to the authentic speech of the patron of the competition, reading them part of an introductory article by Grigor Popov in the newspaper he published.
