On the Teatron stage at the Regional Historical Museum in Razgrad on Saturday, life and rituals in Ancient Rome unfolded. A large audience watched the historical reenactment-performance “We from Ancient Rome”. Fifth-graders from the “Vasil Levski” Primary School in Razgrad participated in it, on the Teatron stage in the role of the high priestess was also the author of the script-teacher Neli Nikolova, who is a famous Razgrad historian, educator and writer. The idea for the project was the two teachers from the same school – the teacher of history and civilizations Tsveta Petrova and Neli Nikolova. The presentation of the performance was assisted by the museum educator at the Regional Historical Museum Hristo Hristov, the museum also provided the stage and the clothing of Romans and Roman women from different strata of the then ancient world.
The highlight of the reenactment were the festive rituals, especially memorable was the lighting of the Vestal fire, as this sacred act was performed by the priestesses. They also performed a spectacular dance. The audience, captivated by the antique atmosphere, learned many things about life in Ancient Rome, presented through curious facts. The students reincarnated in the roles of priestesses, legionaries, citizens of Rome. Through the performance, they learned a lot about the battle near Abritus, in which Emperor Trajan Decius died. The beliefs, customs, morals of the Romans, their construction, which is unique because its models are still an example to this day, were presented in an appropriate artistic way in the performance. Religious beliefs filled the reenactment with a mystical charge. The audience expressed hope that there will be similar, emotionally charged performances in the future.
