Regional History Museum – Razgrad presents for the sixth consecutive year an open-air photo exhibition, which recalls historical moments that left a lasting mark on the development of Razgrad and the Ludogorie region as a whole. Traditionally, it is located in the space next to the Panchoolu Bridge – a landmark place for promoting the cultural heritage of the city, where past and present meet.

This year the exhibition is on the theme “The Economic Modernization of Razgrad in the 19th and 20th Centuries”. The 24-photo board specifically covers the period from the end of the 19th and throughout the 20th century. The photos are from the collection of the Regional History Museum, and the layout of the exhibition is the work of designer Mihail Marinov. On the national holiday of March 3, Razgrad residents had the opportunity to view the exhibition and enrich their information about the economic development of the city.

In the photos, Razgrad residents can follow how banking, railway transport, trade, industrial enterprises, and hotel industry were born and developed in the city. Fans of photodocumentary can see moments from the opening of hotels in the city. The momentous moment for Razgrad residents – the opening of the “Razgrad” Hotel, which is an accent in the architectural appearance of the city, evokes many emotions and memories in every passerby who stops to look at the photos. A photo from the opening of the “Abritus” Hotel – another emblematic Razgrad building – has also remained for generations.

A special place in the exhibition is given to photographs of the structurally defining industrial enterprises of Razgrad, first of all “Antibiotic”. Objects of Razgrad merchants, the crafts association and others are also presented.

The photos also remind us of the large store “Orel” in the city center, which for years was the largest site in Ludogorie for purchasing clothing from Bulgarian manufacturers. The exhibition arouses many emotions in Razgrad residents – pride in the successful development of their beloved city over the decades, resurrects memories of personal participation and attendance at events related to the economic modernization of the city, and generates satisfaction that every Razgrad resident has given something of their own accord to Razgrad.

The exhibition will remain for a whole year in the space next to the Panchoolu Bridge, so that more citizens and guests can learn about the stages in which economic life in Razgrad was modernized.

Since 2020, the Regional History Museum has presented to Razgrad residents at the same place expositions on several topics: Panchoolu Bridge, the development of educational work, FLHS “With Razgrad in the Hearts”, “Journey in Time”. Thus, the museum outlines the multifaceted image of Razgrad over the decades and transmits to today’s generations the historical memory of events and facts.
