On the eve of the International Day of Museums, May local history readings of the Center for Regional History at RHM – Razgrad were held in the “Ananie Yavashov” house museum.

The readings are dedicated to two significant anniversaries: the 40th anniversary of the “Abritus” Archaeological Reserve and 90 years since the death of Academician Ananie Yavashov, Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD, the head of the Department of “New and Latest History” announced at their opening in the museum.

“We welcome all those who, in their free time, without sparing effort and resources, lay the foundations of a number of branches of Bulgarian science, those who love history, look for and find new facts with which to solve the puzzle of national history . We will give a platform to these inimitable enthusiastic local historians”, Prof. Angelova welcomed the participants in the forum.

“For me and my colleagues, today’s event is significant, even more so because it is happening right in Ananie Yavashov’s home. We strongly hope that in September, when we will also organize Autumn local history readings, history teachers will show interest in our Center for Regional History”, said the director of the Regional History Museum Tanya Todorova. And she announced in advance that the materials from both forums will be summarized and collected in a special edition of the museum in order to reach a wide range of people interested in the history of the native land.

Bozhidarka Zlatareva opened the readings with her research on the topic: “Sensation – the best seller of the press”.

Lyubomir Gerganov presented the study “Razgrad and the commercial activity of Dubrovnik on the Bulgarian lands in the XVI-XVII centuries”, Gabriela Mihailova – “Development Reading Center in Razgrad – known events, unknown persons”, Prof. Rositsa Angelova – “The famous unknown Pencho Dimitrov Hristov /1868-1956/” and Miroslava Katsarova – “The Burdarov family – an example of public service activity”.
