On the eve of the National Holiday March 3, the Regional History Museum – Razgrad and the State Archives – Razgrad invite residents and guests of the capital of Ludogorie to view the open-air photo exhibition “Journey into the Past of Razgrad”.
“On the six double-sided boards in the open city space next to the “Panchoolu Bridge”, we present interesting events and a number of other curious facts from the history of the city in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. They are from the fields of education, culture, sports, tourism, medicine, social, amateur and public activities. What they have in common is that in the current year 2025, the anniversaries of their occurrence are celebrated”, said the director of the museum Tanya Todorova at a press conference today. Along with her in the BTA press club were the head of the archive Gabriela Mihaylova and the curator at RHM-Razgrad Neno Yakimov.
In 2025, 165 years have passed since the construction of the Church of “St. Nicholas” the Wonderworker; 140 years since the opening of the Razgrad District School, whose successor today is the profiled high school with teaching of foreign languages “Exarch Joseph”; 130 years since the founding of the “Otets Paisii” Primary School, 50 years since the establishment of the Vocational High School of Food Technology and Biotechnology “Marie Curie”; 155 years since the establishment of the “”Maichina Grizha” Women’s Society to support girls’ education in Razgrad and the cultural emancipation of women; 140 years since the establishment by women of the Razgrad branch of the Bulgarian Red Cross; 125 years since the establishment of the “Deliormanski Yunak” Gymnastics Society; 80 years since the establishment of the “Ludogorets” Physical Education, Tourism and Sports Society; 80 years since the beginning of basketball in Razgrad; 155 years since the establishment of the first cultural institute in Razgrad – the “Razvitie” community center; 120 years since the founding of the theater group at the “Razvitie” community center; 85 years since the opening of the Music House; 65 years since the construction of the “Razvitie” Cinema building; 70 years since the establishment of the Children’s Music School;
50 years since the First Literary Festival “Poetic Horizons of the Bulgarian Woman”; 45 years since the opening of the Museum Collection “Stanka and Nikola Ikonomov” in the house-museum of the same name; 205 years since the birth of Nikola Ikonomov and 190 years since the birth of Stanka Nikolitsa Spaso-Elenova; 30 years since the holding of the National Competition for Young Pianists “Dimitar Nenov”, which became international in 2001.
The journey into Razgrad’s past ends with the 80th anniversary of the Municipal Radio “Razgrad” and the experimental broadcasting of the first private radio station here – Radio “Oberon” in October 1995.
Tanya Todorova specifically noted that the materials and photos for the exhibition are from the collection of the Regional History Museum and the State Archives in Razgrad. The editorial staff of the newspaper Ekip 7, Radio Razgrad, the Regional Library “Prof. Boyan Penev”, Daniela Kumanova and Vesselina Milusheva also contributed with archival photo material. The concept for the exhibition is the work of the museum and the archive, the design is by Teodor Daskalov.
The Head of the State Archives, Gabriela Mihaylova, described the idea of making retrospective information about significant events with anniversaries available to citizens and guests of the city in this open urban space as a very good one. According to her, the cooperation of the two institutions in presenting and promoting such significant events should continue.
Neno Yakimov pointed out that the emphasis in the exhibition is on spirituality, without underestimating other spheres of public life.
The photo exhibition will remain in place until the end of this year.
