Today, for the third year in a row, an already sustainable initiative of the Regional History Museum was launched – the educational program “Adventures in Abritus”, for the children of Razgrad from 1st to 5th grade and their peers, who are visiting their grandparents in the capital of Ludogorie during the summer vacation.

This year the program is three weeks long: July 1-5; July 8-12 and July 15-19: from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Updated and supplemented with new games and surprises, it guarantees unforgettable adventures to the girls and boys who join it.

This morning, 20 children from Razgrad and a boy from Varna first got to know each other on the “Teatron” stage and started the day with morning gymnastics. Every day of the week in Abritus is different. Today, with talks from museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov, archaeologist Silvia Anastasova and designer Mihail Marinov and a walk, they found out where they are and what a museum is. Then they watched movies and used what they learned to answer picture questions in the “Play and Learn with Us” game.

The first day for the smiling girls and boys ended under the cool shade of the trees in the lapidarium, where they were entertained with games from ancient times.

By the end of the week, the children will work in workshops for making combat clothing, play ancient sports and board games, organize and be at a market, an ancient theater, look for treasures and participate in archaeological excavations… All activities that as they will be transported to ancient Rome with a time machine

“In its content, the program is unique in the country. We started three years ago with the idea that children from the first to the seventh grade from morning to noon have the opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient past of Razgrad, with the lifestyle and culture of the people in ancient Abritus, and in the halls of the Interactive Museum to learn interesting facts about the inhabitants before us. In parallel with this, they also get to know the artifacts from our material cultural and historical heritage stored with us in the archaeological expositions.

The program has proven to be successful, we are constantly building it, and interest in it is growing. Places for the three weeks this year were filled well in advance of the registration deadline. And there are children who have already been with us in past summers, says the director of the museum Tanya Todorova.
