The master embroiderer and with a second master’s certificate for making national costumes, Detelina Dacheva, donated a women’s festive Hertsoi folk costume to the Regional History Museum.

“In one of the conversations with the director Tanya Todorova, I learned that there was no Hertsoi folk costume in the museum’s collections. I promised myself to find or collect such a costume. I searched for a long time and finally found it – the costume is 100 years old.

“The most curious thing is that it was kept in a chest, by one family. From their stories, I learned that they collected its individual parts from different places, even from settlers from Ludogorie”, says Detelina Dacheva.

And she added: “I donate it from the bottom of my heart. Let it be a gift from our family, Detelina and Yuri Dachevi, so that it will be preserved for those who come after us, and also as a sign of gratitude for our more than two years of fruitful cooperation with the museum in my native Razgrad.”

“From our friend Detelina Dacheva we receive one of the most valuable donations in recent years. Thank you! It is probably no coincidence that exactly in November – the month of enlightenment, she makes this gesture to the museum. Even during the opening of her second author’s exhibition, I said that it is not necessary for the awakener to be a person of intellectual labor. However, it is mandatory to lead others to enlightenment. For us – the people of the museum, she is our modern awakener. Her gesture now contains the past, the present and the future. Because it is a contribution to the preservation of regional and national memory”, said the director of the museum, Tanya Todorova, upon accepting the donation today.

The master embroiderer received the donation certificate in the presence of the curator of the “Newest History” department, Neno Yakimov.

Detelina Dacheva defines herself as an economist by education, an embroiderer by vocation and a Bulgarian patriot. She has been embroidering for 15 years, and for 10 years – with the restoration and production of national costumes. She sees herself as a creator because she restores over 100-year-old costumes that are no longer even in museums, but through them she is present in the lives of many Bulgarians in 13 countries around the world – among them Germany, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Italy…

The fruit of the two-year cooperation between the Regional History Museum and the master embroiderer Detelina Dacheva are her two exhibitions of folk costumes in the Ethnographic Museum. And in September this year she also had a special participation in the XXXII Festival of the Bulgarian Plum in Oreshak. In one of the largest halls of the National Exhibition of Arts and Crafts in the picturesque Balkan village with 35 information boards and as many objects from the collection of the Razgrad Museum, the exhibition “The Magic of the Traps” was arranged and opened – a story about one of the oldest and most colorful ethnographic groups in Bulgaria. Detelina Dacheva also had her own corner “The Trap Family” in the hall with children’s, women’s and men’s costumes made by her.
