With great interest, on February 10, the first presentation outside Razgrad of the mobile educational program of the Regional Historical Museum – Razgrad “From Egypt to… Scandinavia” took place at the “Geo Milev” Language School in Dobrich, with the lecturer being museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov.

Tenth graders were introduced to ancient history, ancient civilizations, with an addition from the early Middle Ages. The students were also introduced to games practiced in antiquity and the Middle Ages, such as Roman and naval chess, checkers, ancient dice, and others.

The lecturer Hristo Hristov emphasized in the popular science talk information about ancient civilizations that is not presented in history textbooks. Roman chess was a favorite game of the Roman legionaries, and naval chess was known even to the ancient Egyptians. These curious facts greatly interested the students of the language school.

There were other interesting facts in the lecture that Hristo Hristov presented and aroused the interest of the student audience – how the name of the modern technology “Bluetooth” came about. The original name was taken from the Viking King Harald I Bluetooth.

During the presentations, lecturer Hristo Hristov expressed gratitude to the first host of the program – the Language High School in Dobrich, emphasizing that the goal is to enrich young people’s knowledge of the history of civilizations.
