For another year, the Regional History Museum is organizing a Children’s Christmas Workshop.

With the guidance and help of museum educator Hristo Hristov and animator Ibrahim Shaer, second, third and fourth graders from the primary schools “Otets Paisii”, “I.S. Turgenev” and “Vasil Levski” made not the traditional Christmas and New Year cards for such creative workshops, but holiday candles from natural beeswax. “Easy to process and safe for children, and also something different for holiday decorations”, explains Hristo Hristov, explaining the choice of the workshop theme.

After winding the wax around the wick, the children decorated the now-shaped candle with pine branches and took them home to light them in the days around Christmas.

While they were modeling the candles with their still clumsy fingers, the children learned from their hosts curious things and rituals about the upcoming holidays. And that the most important thing there is not the gifts, but that families be together and that on the quiet Christmas night everyone’s hearts open to goodness.
