After nearly 30 years abroad, a valuable archaeological artifact was officially returned to the Regional History Museum in Razgrad.

The “Thracian Horseman” votive tablet, stolen in 1996, was discovered at an online auction in Spain after lecturer Jamila Felag-Shebra alerted the authorities. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Culture, and Spanish services, the artifact was returned to our country.

At an official ceremony at the Ministry of Culture today, Deputy Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Chobanov handed over the plaque to the museum’s director, Tanya Todorova. Director Todorova also delivered a welcome address, expressing gratitude to all institutions involved in the process and describing the day as “momentous” for Ludogorie.

The event was also attended by the Ambassadors of France and Spain, H.E. Ms. Marie Dumoulin and H.E. Mr. Miguel Alonso Berrio.
