Ninth-grader Leman Petrova Chirakova from the “Clio” student club at the Vocational High School of Food Technology and Engineering – Plovdiv received the Special Award of the Regional History Museum in Razgrad in the XIII National Student Journalism Competition “Grigor Popov”.

Lehmann received her individual award for an essay in the “Journalism” section personally from the museum’s director. Tanya Todorova also presented the girl with the museum’s multi-page luxury calendar for 2025, the collection of reports “Books and Education – Historical Aspects and Traditions” from the National Scientific Conference held in Razgrad in 2020, promotional materials and a fresh flower.

At the ceremony today at the “Prof. Iliya Petrov” Art Gallery, special guests were the Mayor of Razgrad Dobrin Dobrev and the General Director of BTA Kiril Valchev, who surprised the participants with the news that from now on, the winners of the individual and collective competition, who have reached the age of 18, will do a one-week internship at the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

For this year’s edition of the Grigor Popov competition with the theme “The World Under the Magnifying Glass”, 345 journalistic materials were submitted by 64 teams and 203 individual participants from second to twelfth grades from 59 educational institutions. Works were sent by young journalists from Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Silistra, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Targovishte and Shumen.

There is an idea for the competition, organized by the Razgrad Municipality and the Center for Student Technical and Scientific Creativity with the assistance of the Regional Department of Education, to be international next year.
