On July 29, children participating in the program for environmental education of adolescents “Eco Summer 2026” spent unforgettable hours in the area of the Abritus Archaeological Reserve.

They continued the volunteer labor initiative, which was a highlight of this year’s summer program, by repainting the wooden seats on the “Theatron” stage. The benches and waste bins near the fortress’s observation tower also received new paint. During the summer program, the children, in addition to painting, also practiced sanitation. The children collected waste and fallen cones and apples from the trees near the northern fortress wall. Museum educator Hristo Hristov was with the children at the sites during the labor activity at the historical site.

After the voluntary work, the children were happy to look at the expositions in the Interactive Museum, where they received a lot of information about the historical past of Abritus from the tour guide Galin Donchev.
This was the last activity of the participants in “Eco Summer 2026” at historical sites in Razgrad for the current season. This summer, with the experiences in the house museums “Stanka and Nikola Ikonomovi”, the Ethnographic Museum and Abritus, will remain unforgettable for the children from “Eco Summer”, and also very useful with the labor skills in painting, sanitation and preservation of natural resources in the historical sites.
