The director of the Regional History Museum Tanya Todorova recalled the events in the days before January 28, 1878 and what happened on Razgrad Liberation Day during the ceremony for the official opening of the joint exhibition “Archives of Freedom” of the regional administrations in Razgrad and Targovishte on the occasion of the Third March – National holiday of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Tanya Todorova presented to the officials and guests on the seventh floor in the lobby of the regional administration the exhibits from the museum’s fund arranged in a special display case: an icon of a Russian saint warrior with a silver gilt bracket – a gift to the citizens of Razgrad from Russian senior military personnel on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of the city; flintlock pistol; a dagger with a black bone hilt inlaid with silver and a Turkish scimitar.

The exhibition was opened by the regional governor Vladimir Dimitrov, who shared that the idea for it arose from a meeting between the deputy regional governor Ivelina Ignatova and the regional governor of Targovishte Gergana Tsoneva and their decision to celebrate the Third of March in a different way.

The event began with a recitation of a poem by the Razgrad poet and journalist Dulinko Dulev by two first-year students from the PS “V. Levski” Arda and Ava, and “I am Bulgarian” recited by Nikol.

Guests at the opening were Gergana Tsoneva and her deputy Dimitar Stanev from Targovishte, the regional governor of Ruse Danail Kovachev and the deputy mayor of Razgrad Zornitsa Evgenieva. The director of the State Archives – Razgrad, Darina Koleva PhD, presented historical facts from the Liberation of Razgrad, and the director of RHM – Targovishte, Nikolay Stavrev – about the liberation in this region.

Among the guests at the opening were heirs of militiamen: one of them is the teacher and journalist Zhivko Zhechev – heir of Grandfather Gero, whose portrait is among the exhibits in the exhibition.

And girls and boys from the Center for Student Technical and Scientific Creativity were among the first to look at the boards and artifacts.

The joint exhibition is organized with the assistance and with provided archival materials and artifacts from the State Archives – Razgrad, Regional History Museum – Razgrad, Art Gallery “Prof. Iliya Petrov” – Razgrad, State Archive – Targovishte, Regional Library “Peter Stupov” – Targovishte, Regional History Museum – Targovishte and Art Gallery “Nikola Marinov” – Targovishte.
