The day of the Second Doctoral, Postdoctoral and Local History Readings at the Interactive Museum began with a presentation of a collective find from Abritus of bronze plate matrices with images of deities (2nd–3rd century). The Director of the Regional History Museum, Tanya Todorova, welcomed the participants in the readings and the official guests.

Minutes later, Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD opened the Second Doctoral, Postdoctoral and Local History Readings on the Problems of Cultural Heritage. This year’s scientific forum is part of the events on the occasion of International Museum Day and is dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of Academician Ananie Yavashov.

“Whatever I say about Academician Ananie Yavashov will be little, because he fits into the entire cosmos – a teacher, archaeologist, researcher who laid the foundations of museum work in archaeological research in Abritus. The holding of the Second Doctoral and Postdoctoral Readings in itself showed the aspiration of the Regional History Museum to establish itself as a research center in Northeastern Bulgaria”, said Prof. Angelova.

14 people presented reports in the readings – from the Shumen University “Bishop Constantine of Preslav”, the Veliko Tarnovo University “St. Cyril and Methodius”, the Veliko Tarnovo Branch of the National Academy of Historical Sciences – BAS, UniBIT and the Institute for Historical Studies at the BAS.

PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from the structures of RHM-Razgrad also presented their research: Vladimir Bekov PhD, Silvia Anastasova, Kristiyan Mladenovski, Neno Yakimov and Viktor Kostadinov. According to the moderator of the readings, Prof. Rositsa Angelova, this fact once again shows the desire of the museum management and the Razgrad Municipality to establish the museum as a significant scientific center in the region and the country.

“This is my second time at this forum, which is becoming a tradition,” said Deputy Mayor Elka Nedelcheva in her welcome address. She congratulated the organizers on choosing the topic, dedicated to an exceptional person like Ananie Yavashov, and expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Razgrad Museum is marking the eve of International Museum Day with such a significant event.

The business part of the Second Doctoral and Postdoctoral Readings began with an academic lecture by Assoc. Prof. Todor Todorov PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Shumen University “Bishop Konstantin Preslavski”.

In the early afternoon, the Second Local History Readings took place at the Interactive Museum. Prof. Rositsa Angelova presented the newly published collection of the First Doctoral and Postdoctoral Local History Readings – 2024. And the director of the museum, Tanya Todorova, welcomed the participants: Lyubomir Gerganov, Miroslava Katsarova, Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD, Bozhidarka Zlatareva and Dimitar Petrov, and thanked them for the work they do for the benefit of the family, so that the memory of the ancestors and what they did for the native land is alive.

“There can be no national history without the painstaking work of local historians who dig, dig, dig and put one of their own pieces – in this case from Razgrad and Ludogorie – into the great puzzle of national and world history”, said Prof. Rositsa Angelova.
