Over 60 tourists, followed by about fifteen children, joined the hike from Razgrad to Poroishte.
Traditionally, it is organized by TD “Buyna Gora” and is one of the initiatives in the calendar of the Razgrad Municipality this year on the occasion of the 152nd anniversary of the death of the Apostle of Freedom.

And once again, as is tradition, the mayor of the village Panayot Uzunov, the chief tour guide Victoria Valcheva, the curator Kristiyan Mladenovski and the fund manager Plamen Penchev at the Regional Historical Museum in Razgrad welcomed tourists aged eight to 78 in front of the Committee House.

Victoria Valcheva began her speech with Levski’s famous words: “Time is in us and we are in time, it turns us around and we turn it around”. She noted that especially for Northeastern Bulgaria, one of the brightest and most memorable figures is Angel Kanchev. “It is here, in the house of priest Ivan Samokovski, which was a refuge for freedom-loving ideas for national freedom, that the walls keep the memory of the “turned time” and the changes that occurred in the thinking of the enslaved Bulgarians. Nowadays, it is up to us whether to preserve or erase this memory, because “time is in us…” and we have the ability to turn it around”, added Victoria Valcheva.

The mayor of the village, Panayot Uzunov, welcomed the tourists with a “Welcome!” and thanked the organizers for the patriotic spirit in which they educate the children through the traditional march. After which he briefly told the history of the village and one of its landmarks – the dug-out Orthodox church “St. Athanasius”.

The crowd honored the work of the Apostle and those who gave their lives for Freedom with a minute of silence, kneeling and laying a wreath. After that, the hikers viewed the exhibition in the Committee House, part of which are documents related to the activities of Vasil Levski and his associates in Razgrad region, and the dug-out church “St. Athanasius”. And at the farewell party, the women from the community center in Poroishte treated them to homemade delicacies, hot tea and an invitation to visit them again.
