A very diverse program is being prepared by specialists from the Regional History Museum on the occasion of May 18 – International Museum Day.
The first event will be on May 14 /Wednesday/. At 10:00 a.m., the collective find from Abritus of bronze plates-matrixes with images of deities /2nd-3rd century/ will be presented in the Interactive Museum.
Immediately after, the Second Doctoral and Postdoctoral Readings on the Problems of Cultural Heritage will begin on the topic: “Abritus – 170 Years since the Birth of Academician Ananie Yavashov”. They will be opened with an academic lecture by Assoc. Prof. Todor Todorov PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Shumen University “Bishop Konstantin Preslavski”.
At 3:00 p.m. on the same day, the Second Regional Studies Readings will begin. Then, the collection of the First Doctoral and Postdoctoral Regional Studies Readings – 2024 will be presented.
For the fifth consecutive year, RHM – Razgrad will present the International Museum Day in a different and attractive way for children. This will happen on May 16 /Friday/. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the territory of the Abritus Archaeological Reserve, they will take on the role of museum specialists – archaeologist, restorer and tour guide.
At 11:30 a.m., children will become researchers of Bulgarian folk botanical medicine from the time of Ananie Yavashov at the Ananie Yavashov House Museum. A herbarium-making workshop will also be opened there.
From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ethnographic Museum, master embroiderer Detelina Dacheva will lead the creative workshop “The Magic of Kapan Embroidery”.
The next event of the day begins at 2:00 p.m. A practical lesson on the study of old printed books will be held at the “Stanka and Nikola Ikonomovi” House Museum.
At 5:00 p.m., the exhibition “Day of the Enlighteners” will be opened there, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the “Stanka and Nikola Ikonomovi” museum collection.
On May 18 /Sunday/, access to Abritus, the Interactive Museum and the archaeological exhibition “Traces of Antiquity” will be free.
In case of bad weather, the museum reserves the right to change the performances included in the program.
