The traveling exhibition is of RHM – Burgas, but the museum specialists from Razgrad have added an educational part to it, the decorations on the Christmas tree were also made by them
The exhibition “From Saint Nicholas to Santa Claus” is presented by the Burgas Museum in the Ethnographic Complex in Razgrad. It will be opened at 5:00 p.m. on December 4, will remain until December 22 and will be part of the festive program in the capital of Ludogoriets for Christmas and New Year.
The exhibition of information boards presents Saint Nicholas from different points of view – legends and traditions about the saint, his natural perception as the patron saint of Burgas, the festive ritual, folk songs and recipes, traditional feasts on Nicholas Day. Authentic inventory is also shown: nets, winnowers, harpoons, gags and other fishing tools. A special place is devoted to how over time the saint became the patron of the poor, children, sailors, fishermen, travelers, merchants and bankers. The exhibition also offers an interesting look at Saint Nicholas and Santa Claus, who according to ethnologists are the same person.
“We have enriched the exposition with a showcase for the Razgrad Orthodox Church “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker” and two author’s icons of the saint”, said the head of the “New and Latest History” department at the Regional History Museum in Razgrad, Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD.
Special attention is given to the smallest. “The idea is for the children to have fun. Here they will be able to fish, color and put together a puzzle with the image of Saint Nicholas, museum pedagogue Hristo Hristov says about the educational part of the exhibition.
