Hundreds of children accepted the invitation of the Regional History Museum to touch history and have the chance to reincarnate in the role of museum specialists.

For the fifth consecutive year, RHM-Razgrad included them in a different and attractive way in events dedicated to the International Museum Day. On the territory of the Archaeological Reserve “Abritus” students from all primary schools in Razgrad became archaeologists, restorers and tour guides. They were joined by their peers from Vratsa and Veliko Tarnovo, who were in the capital of Ludogorie in the next stage of the national initiative “Innovations in Action”, in which this year the Primary School “Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev” participated.

Skillfully guided by real museum specialists, their little friends searched for and found treasures, restored with their own hands broken vessels from antiquity and took them with them as a souvenir of that special day for them. And in the halls of the Interactive Museum, they learned many new and useful things about the everyday life, customs and entertainment of the people who lived in these places centuries ago.

In the “Ananie Yavashov” House Museum, the children learned curious things about the life of the founder of museum work in Razgrad, touched a botanical dictionary written by the academician himself more than a century ago, and made their own herbarium in the workshop organized for them.

At the Ethnographic Museum, the girls and boys diligently mastered the subtleties of Kapan embroidery.

At the home of Stanka and Nikola Ikonomov, the little visitors learned what it means to be the curator of a house museum, got acquainted with the life and achievements of the prominent Razgrad family. And in a practical lesson, they examined old printed books.

Museum specialists told the history of the Regional History Museum and its role in the search, study, preservation and presentation of the cultural-historical heritage of the Razgrad region in front of those involved in the initiative.

“This special program of ours for children is now five years old and has proven to be a good practice. Our idea is for them to learn more about the main activities and functions of the museum, and the professions of museum specialists, in an accessible way”, said the museum’s director Tanya Todorova.
