Girls and boys from the “N. Y. Vaptsarov” Primary School, but as participants in the beginner group of dancers at the “Horce” Dance School at the Center for Children’s Work, held their classes from the summer workshop at the Ethnographic Museum.

The graduates of choreographers Julieta Ivanova and Rumen Ivanov were welcomed by curator Milen Minchev, who told them about the kapantsi, and then together they viewed the permanent exhibition, recreating the annual festive and ritual calendar of the small but oldest ethnographic group in our lands.

Another folk dance lesson followed. Skillfully and naturally led by their teachers, the youngest diligently studied the different rhythms in Bulgarian folk music, and then – although still clumsily, they learned steps from Bulgarian folk songs. They were also helped in the activity by girls and boys from “Horce”, who were already quite advanced in uneven beats.
