“Eli Marinova is an artist who does not just paint, but shares the light. She creates images, mood, space and an emotional world. It is precisely this light that flows from her watercolors – transparent nuances, the freedom of the line, the pulse of flowers and that thrill of life that can only be captured by a person for whom art is an extension of character.” This was said by Prof. Rositsa Angelova PhD, head of the “New and Most Recent History” department at the Regional History Museum – Razgrad at the opening of the “Vitality” exhibition in the “Ananie Yavashov” house museum.
“Eli Marinova is an artist with rare multi-layeredness – she paints watercolors with the ease with which a person breathes, makes caricatures with a smile, capturing the comic, but also the truth, sings with that musicality that reminds of the natural harmony of nature. But perhaps the most characteristic thing about Elli is her inner sunshine and that effortless optimism that she carries with her, and which is transmitted to the people around her”, continued the presentation by Prof. Rositsa Angelova.
In her words, Eli Marinova’s paintings “breathe, they move the gaze, they evoke a smile, they expand the viewer’s inner space, there is joy, reflection, lightness, but also a lot of depth, a sense of humor, but also a light poetic context in them”. “Vitality” is an exhibition that speaks of the power of being yourself, of staying alive, curious, open to the world. It is a kind of portrait of Eli Marinova, an artist who knows no boundaries between different arts, and who carries within herself the freedom to change, to seek and discover”, pointed out Prof. Rositsa Angelova. She expressed her confidence that the exhibition will not just be a cultural event in Razgrad, but an experience, an encounter with a sunny, talented and genuine person who generously shares her energy with us.
Eli Marinova is a well-known name in the cultural life of Bulgaria, and for the older residents of Razgrad, Eli was and remains the voice of Radio “Oberon”. She has been engaged in oil painting for more than 25 years. She has a master’s degree in history, and works as a historian at the only Museum of the History of Medicine in Varna, the only one in the Balkans. She plays the piano and is also involved in photography.
Eli Marinova thanked the team of the Regional History Museum for the invitation and for the opportunity to return home, and the designer Mihail Marinov for the harmony and comfort in the arrangement of the exhibition.
In front of her numerous childhood friends who came to the opening of the exhibition, Eli Marinova spoke about her creative impulses, shared memories and stories from her life in her beloved Razgrad. She sang several songs for them, there were dances too. There were hugs, kisses and many, many flowers.
The House Museum “Ananie Yavashov” could hardly accommodate friends, colleagues and admirers of Eli Marinova’s art. Among them were the director of the Regional History Museum Tanya Todorova and the deputy mayor of Razgrad Zornitsa Evgenieva.
The exhibition can be viewed until mid-December, but purchases were made at its opening.
